THE MORNING AFTER

REQUEST: If you happen to read this, please say a prayer for me. I’m feeling dizzy again.I’m only 10 minutes away from the hospital.

This is not a night after wild sex (Hah!)
but that’s one of my wishes though
before I die.  (I wish agape love would be sufficient for me.)

THE MORNING AFTER

By Ms Imelda Caravaca. Ferrer

You see, two days ago,

I was scared for my life.

I’ve heard of people

having a headache,

sleeping it off

and never waking up again.

I’ve heard stories

of people

who never got sick

a day in their lives

except for colds and flu

here and there,

dying in their sleep.

I’ve read newspaper accounts

of people

dying violently

and it makes me wonder.

Have they told the people they love

that indeed, they are loved?

Have they apologized to the ones they’ve hurt?

Have they forgiven their mortal enemies?

Have they lived the life they wanted?

Have they made peace

with themselves,

or God most of all?

If you read

this simple piece,

go tell the people

you love

that they are the air you breathe,

that you get going because of them.

Go read that book you’ve always wanted to read.

I dare you to tell your crush how you really feel for him.

Go ask him for coffee.

Sing in a karaoke bar

Or even in your bathroom.

Dance to the music in your head.

Have a good cry.

Ask for help.

Share your smile to a random stranger.

Give a pat on the back to a co-worker or classmate who did good.

Hug your parents, your siblings.

Tell your friends

that you couldn’t have made it, so far, without them.

Tell them that they are closer than a brother.

Fly to that dream destination.

Write that book, tell that story that only you can tell.

Start living the life you’ve always dreamed about.

Some people may have a thousand days,

Two thousand days,

Three thousand days.

In my case,18799 days, so far.

We cannot see into the future.

Some may have tomorrow.

Some may only have TODAY.

Don’t put off something important.

Don’t delay.
